In the Kremlin’s latest attack on opposition-leader Alexei Navalny, a Russian court on Wednesday declared Alexei Navalny’s opposition network to be an “extremist” organization.
The move comes less than a week after President Putin signed a law banning “extremist” organizations from participating in elections in any way.
“We will not retreat from our goals and ideas,” Navalny wrote in an Instagram post after the news broke. “This is our country and we have no other.”
It will be interesting to see whether or not President Biden challenges President Putin on his treatment of Navalny when they meet next week in Geneva.
