Sunday night, the Israeli Knesset voted to approve the new government formed Yamina Party leader Naftali Bennet and Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid, making Naftali Bennet Israel’s 13th prime minister and ending Benjamin Netanyahu’s record-breaking time in office.
The government was approved by 60 MKs and opposed by 59. MK Saeed Alharomi of the Ra’am Party abstained.
“The new government will be a government which strives for real, practical solutions to the problems faced by the country and its citizens,” Bennet said in his speech to the Knesset. “The work-plan which we are presenting today is the most detailed in years. We have come to work. To remove the barriers, to free up the jams, and to turn our country into what it can be.”
